Hard Sauce

Hard sauce, also known as brandy butter, is a delightful and rich spread that elevates any warm dessert to new heights. Spread it on and let the warm butter melt on the dish, and in your mouth.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup butter softened
  • 1 ½ cup confectioners’ sugar
  • 2 tablespoons brandy or whiskey*
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/8 teaspoon kosher salt

Instructions

  • In the bowl of a stand mixer, combine softened butter and confectioners' sugar. Mix on medium until the sugar is absorbed, then increase the speed to high until the mixture is smooth, approximately 1 minute.
  • Add brandy (or whiskey), vanilla extract, and salt to the mixture. Mix on medium for about 30 seconds until smooth and evenly combined.
  • Serve the hard sauce over any warm dessert for an extra kick!

Notes

  • Note: For a non-alcoholic version, replace brandy with 1 ½ teaspoon rum extract.
