How to Make Southern Sweet Tea

Ingredients

  • 5 cups water
  • 5 tea bags like Lipton or Luzianne
  • 1 cup granulated sugar (by taste) up to 1 1/2 cups
  • lemon or mint for garnish

Instructions

  • Boil water in a medium pot. Remove from heat and add tea bags, steeping for 10-20 minutes.
  • Dissolve sugar into the tea, tasting as you go.
  • Remove tea bags, pour tea into a pitcher, and add more water to fill.
  • Serve with ice and lemon.

Notes

Feel free to go up to 6 tea bags if you prefer a stronger tea.  Also you can steep longer to concentrate more flavor.
