Slow Cooker Sweet Potatoes

This slow cooker sweet potatoes recipe is sweet & savory. Free up your stove-top or oven this holiday season and cook this comforting side dish in the slow cooker!

  • 3 pounds sweet potatoes, peeled & sliced into 1/2-inch pieces
  • 1/4 cup orange juice
  • 1/4 cup butter, sliced into pieces
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • Salt & Pepper (to taste)
  • 1/2 cup pecans, chopped


  • In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar, cinnamon, cornstarch, salt, and pepper.
  • Pour the orange juice into the bottom of the slow cooker.
  • Add half of the potatoes the slow cooker. Pour half of the brown sugar mixture on top. Add the remaining sweet potatoes and top with the remaining seasonings.
  • Add the butter on top.
  • Cook HIGH 2-3 hours or low 4-6. You'll know it's done when the sweet potatoes are soft.
  • Top with pecans before servings.


Every slow cooker heats differently. You may need more or less time for your sweet potatoes to soften.
