Why Make This

  • Ready in less than 30 minutes: like my Cajun Shrimp and Sausage Pasta, this Cajun Salmon Alfredo takes less than 30 minutes for a flavor-packed meal
  • Homemade Alfredo sauce: while you can make this dish with jarred Alfredo sauce, you’ll see that it’s actually easier and more flavorful to use homemade.

Ingredients Needed

Cajun Salmon

  • Salmon: I used about 4 fresh salmon filets. If your salmon is frozen, you should thaw it out before cooking it in this dish.
  • Cajun Seasoning: When testing this recipe, I used my own cajun spice blend. But, for a salt-free option, you can absolutely use the Cajun Seasoning recipe on this site. You can always salt to taste at the end.
  • Butter: I sear the salmon in butter, but you can use olive oil as an alternative.

Alfredo Sauce

  • Butter: You can use salted or unsalted butter, depending on your personal preferences. Unsalted butter gives you more control over adding salt to your taste
  • Garlic: I use fresh minced garlic
  • Heavy Whipping Cream
  • Parmesan Cheese: l get this fresh in the refrigerated section of the market. I do not recommend using the shelf-stable parmesan cheese as it is much saltier than fresh grated.
  • Cream Cheese: Adding softened cream cheese to alfredo sauce makes it creamy.
  • Italian seasoning

Other

  • Pasta: I used cooked fettuccine pasta. But, you can use any pasta that you prefer, like penne, in this recipe. Simply cook the pasta according to the package directions.

How to Make Cajun Salmon Alfredo Pasta

  1. Season the salmon: add Cajun seasoning to the salmon and rub it evenly all over the fish.
  2. Sear the salmon: get a nice brown sear on your salmon in a skillet.
  3. Make the Alfredo sauce: in the same skillet that you seared the fish, make the Alfredo sauce. The leftover bits add so much flavor!
  4. Add the pasta and plate: this Cajun Salmon Alfredo Pasta isn’t complete without cooked pasta. Toss it in the sauce to coat and plate the dish.

Top Cooking Tips & FAQs

  • Adjust the spices if using Cajun seasoning from the store: this recipe uses homemade Cajun seasoning. Homemade spice blends are typically not as salty as Cajun seasoning mixes from the store. So, if you’re using a Cajun seasoning from the store, use about 1/2 tsp per pound. You can always add more to taste at the end.
  • Use parmesan from the refrigerated section: this has more flavor and less salt compared to the grated parmesan that you can pick up in the pasta aisle.
  • Make this low-carb by using your favorite low-carb noodles: my personal favorites are air fryer spaghetti squash or the hearts of palm noodles I used in Cajun Shrimp Alfredo.

This was supposed good!! The sauce was easy to make and the Cajun and Italian flavors went well together. I added shrimp as well because my daughter wanted both. Served it up with penne pasta because that’s what we had. This will definitely be on repeat in my house.
