How to Keep Them Warm
- Slow Cooker or Crock-Pot: One of the most convenient methods is to use a slow cooker or Crock-Pot. Set the slow cooker to the “warm” setting. This will keep them at a safe serving temperature without overcooking. Remember to stir occasionally to prevent sticking and ensure even heating.
- Oven: Preheat your oven to its lowest setting usually around 170-200 degrees and place the little smokies in an oven-safe dish or on a baking sheet. Cover the dish with aluminum foil to retain moisture. Check them regularly to ensure they don’t overcook.
- Stovetop: On the stovetop, use a heavy-bottomed pot or saucepan over low heat. Keep the little smokies in the pot, and stir occasionally to prevent sticking or burning.
- Electric Buffet Server: If you have an electric buffet server or food warmer, you can place them in it, set it to a low or warm setting, and cover it with the lid.
How to Serve Them
- Classic Toothpick Appetizer: Spear each little smokie with a toothpick, allowing guests to easily pick them up for a convenient and classic appetizer.
- Pigs in a Blanket: Wrap each little smokie in a triangle of crescent roll dough and bake until golden brown. This classic combination is always a hit.
